School Coach Arrested After Alleged Affair With Student

A Bucks County high school coach is under arrest accused of having a sexual relationship with a teenage student.

36-year-old Eric Romig was the junior varsity softball coach at Penn Ridge High School in Perkasie, PA, He is accused of having a sexual encounter with a 16-year-old who was on the team as well the Sellersville traveling softball team.

According to court documents, the two had been dating since May or June of 2013,

The Bucks County District Attorney's Office told FOX 29 that Romig took the girl to his home in Quakertown, PA. They allegedly had sexual intercourse several times.

Prosecutors tell us they also sent each other explicit text messages, videos and pictures through cell phones.

Court documents go on to say that it wasn't until last week when the girl's mom became suspicious of the relationship and reported it to police.

FOX 29 went to Penn Ridge High School to talk to parents who were taking their kids to after school sports activities.

Kim Bedillion said, "It's very alarming. It's very surprising. That's not something you hear about here at Penn Ridge. I guess it can happen here but this is a really good school district."

"We send our kids to this school thinking that they are safe and in a good environment. It's a surprise to hear that's going on."

Romig faces charges in sexual assault and sexual abuse.
