The Orange County Sheriff's office is trying to locate a shooter who shot two teens Friday afternoon outside a small, private Christian school just outside Orlando. Bullets rang out at two PM as school was letting out at the Agape Christian Academy right near the intersection of Hiawassee and Silver Star.
Fox 35 News has learned the second teen who was shot in the parking lot Friday afternoon was shot in the leg and he is expected to be ok. His family drove him to a local hospital. Captain Angelo Nieves says it appears the second shooting victim was in the wrong place when the shooter went after a sixteen year old student here.
Detectives spent Friday night looking at videos from surveillance cameras near the Agape Christian Academy. They also spoke to more witnesses as they work to identify the shooter.
Captain Nieves says, "It appears to be one individual who committed the shooting and additional people were present. They fled in a vehicle. We are trying to identify the suspect as well as the vehicle."
One investigator tells Fox 35 News that the escape vehicle might be an SUV and deputies are looking for four to five people who took off in it. The shots scattered children in the parking lot as school let out Friday afternoon.
Some children saw the shooting. Soledad Germain's young son heard the gunshots from inside the school. She says, "It's very scary. That's not good that you send your kids to school and then you get bad news."
The sheriff's office tells us the shooter does not attend the school, but his sixteen year old victim is a student here. He was shot in the hip and his injury is not life threatening.
Deborah Fayson has two grandchildren who attend the school and a daughter who teaches there. She says, "I'm thinking about taking my grand babies out of here because that's very scary."
Fox 35 News put a couple of phone calls into the school's attorney for their side of this story but the lawyer did not call us back. Stay with Fox 35 News throughout the weekend for updates on this story.
