PHOENIX -

It's a little bit of comfort for families of sick kids. There is a new Ronald McDonald House playground in Phoenix, and there's a reason it looks a little bit like Chase Field.

The new playground at the Ronald McDonald House in Phoenix is modeled after the stadium. It features a baseball diamond with a replica of Diamondbacks catcher Miguel Montero at home plate, ready to play catch.

"I mean who wouldn't want to play on a playground that has a baseball field on it and a bean bag throw, just great stuff for the kids," says Nancy Roach, Ronald McDonald House executive director.

Montero even stopped by to check it out for himself. He donated $50,000 for the playground -- but he says it's not about the money.

"It's not about how much I put into this, I really don't care I just wanna see the kids smile."

Renovations were made by the D'Backs "Give Back League," a volunteer group made up of Diamondbacks employees who donated their time and coordinated vendors to complete the project.

"The more we can do for the community and in particular families and young kids, it will have a lasting effect for years. We're not always gonna win on the field, this year we didn't make it to the playoffs, but this is winning as well," says Derrick Hall, Diamondbacks president.

"The more that they help us, the more we can help the families that need to come and stay with us," says Roach.

D-Baxter and Ronald McDonald himself were on hand for the event, to pose for a few pictures.

"It's just a blessing to see all the kids play here and see the smile on their face for me. It makes my day," adds Montero.

The renovation project also includes upgrades with new lighting, fans, a mister system, grilling area, patio furniture and landscaping.

In the past 15 years, the Diamondbacks have donated more than $33 million to the community.
