The 2013 Holidazzle parade schedule has been cut from 15 evening parades to eight this season. This winter's popular parades will be pared down, held each Friday and Saturday night between Nov. 29 and Dec. 21.
Since 1992, there have been 489 parades entertaining hundreds of thousands of people who line Nicollet Avenue each year. For more than two decades, it's been a holiday tradition for kids of all ages.
Yet, the Minneapolis Downtown Council has decided that even good things must come to an end. While organizers promise to "reimagine the holiday experience," many who spoke with FOX 9 News said if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

"While the opportunities of the future are exciting, we remain committed to the 2013 holiday season," said Leah Wong, Minneapolis Downtown Council vice president of events and marketing. "Holidazzle has a rich history that many of our volunteers and fans have been a part of since the beginning. We look forward to commemorating the season and to close on a high note."
What will replace the event has not yet been decided, but planners did concede the decision was not solely based on budget concerns. Instead, the long-term vision for downtown -- including the Vikings stadium, Gateway Park and the redesigned Nicollet Mall -- informed the choice.
"We want to not only give people a reason to come downtown, but we also want to give people who work, live and play downtown additional things to do while they are here," Wong said.
Holidazzle Hot Seats will go on sale Friday, Nov. 1 Holidazzle.com. The $9 tickets offer reserved seating in a heated tent, with complimentary hot cocoa and cider.
