To mark the anniversary, the science center will host Endeavour Fest. It's a weekend long celebration Friday October 11th through Sunday October 13th from 10:00am to 5:00pm. NASA will present over a dozen exhibits, displays and educational demonstrations illustrating aeronautics, research missions and ongoing space exploration programs for humans, robots and satellites. Guests will have the opportunity to meet and hear astronauts speaking about their experiences in space and learn about future plans for Endeavour's new permanent home in the Science Center's Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center.

NOTE: Due to the federal government shut-down, NASA has canceled participation in Endeavour Fest. This means that NASA is unable to provide exhibits, displays or presenters for the 3-day celebration.

An NYPD plan intended to better connect with the community seems to have backfired. The police department asked its Twitter followers to share pictures of themselves with New York City police officers using the hashtag "myNYPD." Some did share nice pictures, but others decided to not "play nice, " sharing beating photos and more.
