Dying Father On Gurney Leads Daughter Down Aisle

Posted: Updated:

CLEVELAND (AP) - A terminally ill father made a dying wish come true when he arrived at his daughter's wedding by ambulance and gave her away, from a hospital gurney.

Guests cried and clapped as 52-year-old Scott Naggy took part in daughter Sarah's wedding Saturday at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Strongsville,

Naggy said he's always wanted to walk his daughter down the aisle for her wedding.

The intensive care unit doctors at University Hospital in Cleveland fitted him for a tuxedo - and placed him on a stretcher, which was then sent down the aisle right alongside his daughter. Scott says he's filled with happiness for his daughter.

Doctors were uncertain if he would be able to make the wedding, initially scheduled for next year. But with monitor cords slipped under his tuxedo and a tracheal tube attached, he made the trip down the aisle, kissing a grandson who was the ring bearer and giving a thumb's up.

Sarah said that since she was a little girl, she has wanted her father to escort her down the aisle when she married. She said her future husband assured her she would get her wish.
