SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -

Plenty of valley bars specialize in margaritas, and there's a good chance you've had one made with a local, award-winning tequila.

Dave and Andrea Blunier are Halloween party die-hards.

For the past 18 years, guests have flooded their Halloween bash, eager for a sip of the couple's signature homemade tequila

"We have property down in Mexico and we've always loved tequila and so we thought one year it would be fun to make tequila for our Halloween party," said Dave Blunier.

Using a honey-vanilla recipe, Dave began distilling tequila right in his own home.

He named it Dulce Dorado, which in Spanish means "sweet gold."

"We boiled the agave and would infuse it with the honey and vanilla. It then went into barrels so we could age the tequila and put it in a machine...to actually hand pump and hand filter all the tequila," said Blunier.

After a year and a half of distilling at home, Dave partnered with Southern Wine + Spirits to distribute his tequila to the masses.

He moved operations from his house, down to a distillery in Jalisco, Mexico.

"The tequila is manufactured down there and then it's brought across the border in 137 gallon barrels and then we actually bottle here in the United States," said Blunier.

Dulce Dorado hit the market in Arizona and New Mexico in June; Nevada and California are next.

As the Blunier's stock up for this year's Halloween bash, they'll be no shortage of Dulce Dorado.
