CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

With the 2013 pollen and mold reporting season coming to an end, we look back at this year and see how it compares to 2012 and previous years.

With weather dictating the start and stop dates and with a milder spring the past 2 years, reporting began as early as the first week in March.

Tree pollen was the first to be counted and surprisingly we had the exact number of high reporting days both years, though 2012 had one very high alert in March that year.

Grass pollen followed as early as March in 2012 and April in 2013 with 30% more high readings in 2013. Though the season peaked in May both years, we still saw an occasional corn grass pollen into late September.

Weeds peaked in the late Spring both years, but 2013 saw 25% more high readings, with Ragweed having twice as many as the year before.

The past two years had several very high alert mold counts, and over 50% more high counts than 2011. Both years had record breaking days with the highest counts since we began keeping record in 2000 - over 125,000 mold spores per cubic meter!
