Study: Red Meat Can Hurt Male Fertility

Posted: Updated:

Lot of men love bacon, but you may want to cut back if you want to be a dad.

Harvard Researchers compared the eating habits of men using in vitro fertilization treatments.

The study found men who consumed a half a portion of processed meat a day had fewer normal shaped sperm cells, which can hurt fertility.

They were each questioned how often they eat a range of foods including processed meat, red meat, white meat, and fish.

Red meat is thought to contain high levels of pesticides and other substances that may interfere with hormones.

While white fish is rich in zinc, which is believed to boost fertility.

The researchers are still not certain why certain foods can harm or promote fertility.
