San Bernardino Councilman Pleads Guilty To Perjury

SAN BERNARDINO (AP/KTTV) - San Bernardino City Councilman Chas Kelley has pleaded guilty to perjury, resigned from the City Council and dropped out of a race for San Bernardino mayor.

The Press-Enterprise reports that Kelley pleaded guilty to one count of perjury Thursday for failing to disclose $74,222 in campaign contributions and then using the money for non-campaign purposes. Kelley is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 13.

Also on Thursday, prosecutors charged Councilman Robert Jenkins in an unrelated case with 30 counts, including 18 felonies, related to stalking and identity theft.

Prosecutors allege that the 33-year-old Jenkins posted personal ads with photos and information of an ex-lover and another man, claiming they were seeking sex on Craigslist.

Jenkins is scheduled to be arraigned Dec. 17 in Riverside County Superior Court.
