Research: Divorced Friends Influence Marriage

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Are divorced friends bad for your marriage? They could be!

New research by Vision Critical shows that men can be talked into divorce by their friends.

In fact, nearly one in four divorced men say they were influenced by a friend who was already separated.

Women are not as easily influenced. They are more likely to make up their own minds about their marriage, instead of getting advice from a friend. The study says that only about one in six woman said they were affected by friends' relationships.

The study also shows that about 10% of men and 9% of women said they had been influenced by a relative.

And only four percent allowed a TV storyline to lead them to cast doubt on their marriage. Only 1 per cent were influenced by the behavior or opinion of a celebrity.
