CHESTER, Pa. -

One person is dead after a shooting in Delaware County.

It happened just after 7:30 p.m. on the streets of Chester, and police say a suspect is still on the run.

FOX 29's Dave Kinchen reported live Friday night that police had just left the scene shortly before 10 p.m., reopening Melrose Road.

The victim was described as a man in his late teens or early 20s, and police said the suspect deliberately targeted him in a chase that started around 22nd and Melrose and ended at 21st and Melrose, when the suspect shot the victim several times.

Police say numerous shots were fired. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

We do not have a description of the suspect who got away.

Ridley police were assisting Chester officers or trying to get to the scene to help investigate, but we're told that a Ridley police officer crashed his patrol car while trying to respond. Police were not immediately saying whether the officer was injured.
