Pedestrian crossing Highway 95 killed by car

YUMA, Ariz. -

A pedestrian crossing Highway 95 was killed when he was hit by a car on Friday night.

Yuma County Sheriff's deputies say a car was driving on Highway 95 near Engler Avenue as a pedestrian was crossing the roadway.

The car collided with pedestrian and he was thrown over the vehicle and landed on the shoulder of the street.

The driver wasn't injured.

Deputies identified the pedestrian as 51-year-old Roger E. Oran. He had fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on scene.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but alcohol isn't believed to be a factor.
