Children's art challenge kicks off at Ga. Aquarium

Posted: Updated:

ATLANTA (AP) - A muralist and conservationist is launching a national challenge to get students to create artwork showing how American waterways shape everyday life.

Robert Wyland is set to unveil a 400 square-foot mural at the Georgia Aquarium Monday morning as part of the national "Water Is Life" campaign.

Event organizers say students from 300 schools in 45 states are being given the opportunity to participate in the program with the Wyland Foundation and its partners.

Wyland says he hopes students using art to better understand water-base habitats will also increase acceptance of their roles as future caretakers of America's waterways.
