Driver Sought After Hit-And-Run Seriously Injures Woman

PHILADELPHIA -

The search is on for a hit-and-run driver, police say. The driver seriously injured one person and left behind a lot of damage over the weekend.

You can see in this surveillance video released Monday (see the last video clip above) that a light-colored vehicle goes into an intersection right into the path of the darker colored car.

That darker vehicle is part of a chain-reaction crash, and police say the driver in the car that caused the accident just takes off.

The crash happened at 3 a.m. Saturday at Second and Westmoreland streets in the Fairhill section of Upper Kensington.

A 25-year-old woman who was a passenger in the car that was hit is in critical but stable condition at Temple University Hospital.

The driver of that car was treated for less serious injuries.

But the accident set off a chain reaction and a lot of damage to parked cars. A FOX 29 News camera recorded doors that were broken off and windows shattered.

Police are hoping the driver who caused all of this will come forward. The striking vehicle was described as a mid- to early-2000s Pontiac with minor damage to its front bumper and possible black paint scuffing. It drove off west on Westmoreland.

If you see the vehicle or suspect, contact 9-1-1 immediately, police said. To submit a tip, call 215-686-TIPS (8477) or text to PPD TIP (773847).
