Small plane makes hard landing at Teterboro

Posted: Updated:

TETERBORO, N.J. (AP) - No injuries were reported when a small plane came down at Teterboro Airport without its landing gear deployed.

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police told The Star-Ledger that the pilot was the only person aboard the single-engine plane when it landed around 2 p.m. Monday.

But it wasn't immediately clear why the landing gear did not deploy or if the plane suffered much damage.

The pilot's name was not disclosed, and authorities have not said where the plane had taken off from or where it was headed.

The Port Authority operates the airport in Bergen County, which is frequently used by business travelers headed to and from Manhattan and recreational pilots.

A New Jersey Transit commuter train that became disabled just outside the Hudson River tunnel in Manhattan on Tuesday has been removed. 1,000 passengers were on board when the Northeast Corridor train became stuck, according to NJ Transit officials. A rescue train was attached to the disabled train and removed to Penn Station about an hour behind schedule. It is not clear what caused the mechanical problem. There are residual delays on NJT trains into and out of Penn Station.
