Two arrested in Marion County for human trafficking
OCALA, Fla. (WOGX FOX 51) -
Two people who were under investigation by the FBI and the Ocala Police Department have been arrested on human trafficking charges.
Melissa Rodriguez, 41, and Ysbette Joseph, 31, were booked into the Marion County Jail on Monday.
According to investigators, several meetings took place involving Rodriguez, Joseph and a confidential source from April to October 2013, during which time the two woman allegedly negotiated the purchase of young women between the ages of 17 and 23.
According to detectives, a down payment for the purchase of at least 3 young, illegal women was paid in cash to Rodriguez and Joseph by the confidential source.
Rodriguez was located and taken into custody in Orange County on October 9 and Joseph was arrested a day later in Levy County. Both were then transferred into the Marion County Jail.
