Fla. police have suspects in escaped inmates probe
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
Two convicted killers who used forged paperwork to get out of prison in the Panhandle are behind bars in Orange County, and one is facing new charges.
Charles Walker and Joseph Jenkins, both age 34, were processed into the Orange County Jail in Orlando on Tuesday. Jail spokesman Allen Moore says they are in maximum security in two separate locations in the jail.
The escaped inmates were caught Saturday in a Panama City motel, just weeks after they walked out of a Panhandle prison.
Walker will appear before a judge at 9 a.m. on Wednesday on a warrant issued on Oct. 15 for escape. There is no similar warrant at this time for Jenkins; therefore Jenkins is not scheduled to be at an initial appearance.
Investigators are looking into how the forged documents got into the court system. Authorities say they are looking at several suspects, but have so far made no arrests.
