Police officer buys groceries for mother accused of trying to shoplift food at grocery store

Posted: Updated:

A Florida police officer is being called a guardian angel after she bought $100 in groceries for a struggling mother.

The officer was responding reports of a shoplifter at a grocery store.

When she arrived, she found the mother and her three young children.

The mother told the officer she was just trying to feed them.

The officer did charge her with a misdemeanor. But after finding the woman had no major criminal history she decided to foot the bill.

The officer said in return, all she hopes for is that the woman helps someone else after she gets back on her feet.
