Police search for driver who ditched car after crash

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -

Police are searching for a driver of the car they say struck and knocked down a traffic light police during the early morning hours on Sunday.

A spokesperson for the Sandy Springs Police Department tells FOX 5 News that the driver hit the pole on the corner of Glenridge Drive and Roswell Road around 3 a.m. Sunday. The pole ended up falling down.

Police say the driver then ran from the black Honda Accord. The car, which has a Tennessee tag, was impounded after the accident.

Crews worked to repair the damage to the light by Sunday afternoon.

Anyone with further information on the identity of the driver is asked to call the Sandy Springs Police Department at 770-551-6900.
