Erik Vargas says he used to work with Yessenia Suarez in Maitland, and maintained a friendship with her ever since."We're all just confused, we just want closure, everybody, I can only imagine what he family's going through, but us as friends, we love them, Vargas said. "I looked at her like a little sister, and she looked at me like a brother."
He said just a few months ago he ran into Suarez on his lunch break -- having no idea that would be the last time he would ever see his friend and former co-worker."So we joked around and said, we're going to get together for a barbeque, and this was two months ago, you know this is just like totally shocking to me," Vargas said.
Vargas also knows the biological father of 9-year-old Thalia Otto and 8-year- old Michael Otto."It's been really hard on him, and we're all concerned for the family's well-being as well as his," Vargas said.
Suarez's husband, Luis Toledo, has been charged with second degree murder for the death of his wife, but still hasn't told detectives where the bodies of Suarez and her two children may be -- meanwhile deputies from Volusia, Seminole and Lake counties are re-tracing the wooded and swampy areas within a two miles radius from Suarez's home."It's kind of difficult, not knowing where they're at and we're just praying that even if it's for the worst at least that they find the bodies so they'll be closure for her family," Vargas said.
Volusia County deputies say the search will continue Thursday at 7am.
