The Michigan State Police Metro Post is investigating a traffic crash that occurred on October 31, 2013 at 2:36 PM at westbound I 696 and Mound Road in the City of Warren.

Witnesses reported that a semi-truck was traveling west on I-696 near Mound Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck the right median wall. The driver of the semi was ejected out the passenger window of the semi-truck and landed on the grass. The truck continued westbound and struck the center median wall.

The driver of the semi was transported to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital with minor injuries.

The freeway was closed for hours, until shortly after 10 p.m., to allow for fuel spill cleanup.

State troopers are continuing to investigate the incident. It does not appear that alcohol is a factor and seatbelts were not utilized.

No other vehicles were involved and no other injuries were reported.
