NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

At least four people including one firefighter were injured when the wooden facade of a store under construction came crashing down in Midtown Manhattan, according to the FDNY.

Emergency crews responded to W 40th St. and 7th Ave. on Friday at about 10 a.m.

Metal and wood fell from the facade of a Wasabi Sushi shop and littered W. 40th St.

A FOX 5 News crew on scene reported that a portion of the facade along 7th Ave. remained intact.

The injured firefighter was taken to Roosevelt Hospital with minor injuries, reported the Associated Press. Three pedestrians including two females and one male were taken to Bellevue Hospital. with non- life threatening injuries.

It is not clear what caused the collapse.

The Buildings Department issued a stop-work order at the site because the temporary construction wall was not properly installed.

It was a very windy morning in the New York City area with wind gusts forecasted to reach up to 50 miles per hour.
