A gunman's shooting rampage in a Los Angeles airport (LAX) is affecting flights nationwide. Investigators say gunshots were reported at Terminal 3 at Los Angeles International Airport Friday morning.
The shots rang out around 9:30 a.m. when what appears to be a lone gunman pulled out a semi-automatic and started shooting people. The person the gunman first shot was a TSA agent working a check point.
Police say the suspect also exchanged fire with airport police. The shooting at LAX immediately prompted authorities to evacuate a terminal, so that the airport could be swept as a precautionary measures. This prompted the bomb squad to come on scene.
According to the FAA, flights headed to LAX from other cities around the country have been grounded. However, here in Orlando, eights flights from Orlando International Airport (OIA) to LAX, which is four arriving and four departing appear to all be on time.
Also per FOX 35 reporter Derrol Nail, TSA agents at OIA haven't received any word to heighten security as of right now. Per a tweet sent out by the Los Angeles Police Department, in all "seven people were shot, and six of the seven hurt were taken to the hospital."
The gunman, who's name hasn't been released at this time was injured during that gun battle with officers, that's when he was taken into custody.
