DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) -

The two suspects arrested following the murder of a Wayne State University law student made an appearance before a magistrate Saturday. They're not charged with murder, but one could face up to life in prison because of his extensive criminal history.

Michael Booker, 41, told the court he was homeless either living on the streets or with friends. The magistrate set his bond at $500,000. He faces several charges including tampering with evidence, receiving and concealing stolen property, breaking and entering a motor vehicle, and assault and battery.

It's alleged he took a cell phone belonging to Tiane Brown back on October 30th out of her 2008 Chevy Trail Blazer. Her body was found in her SUV near the Packard Plant last week.

Because he's been in trouble with the law before Booker could spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted.

The judge also arraigned Robert Windsor, 34, via video Saturday for receiving and concealing stolen property. The charge is connected to the cell phone believed to have belonged to Brown.

Windsor told the court he's unemployed and squatting at a house in Highland Park. His bond was set a $10,000.

Booker will return to court on Nov. 12; Windsor returns Nov. 14.

Meanwhile there have still not been any arrests in Brown's murder. Her family will lay her to rest next week.
