ADAIRSVILLE, Ga. -

Adairsville police said an alleged drug dealer attempted to run down two officers on Tuesday.

Police were responding to a report of a drug deal in the parking lot of a Hardee's on Princeton Boulevard when they said one of the suspects rammed a vehicle against a patrol car. The suspect also struck two parked vehicles and attempted to run down an officer who was standing in the parking lot, police said.

The officer fired three shots into the suspect's vehicle and then more shots as it allegedly tried to ram into another police car, according to authorities.

The suspect lost control of the vehicle and drove into a ditch, police said. The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Cajo Marque Harris, of Lithonia, Ga., was then taken into custody. He is charged with three counts of aggravated assault on peace officer, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, unlawful use of a communications device and several traffic-related offenses.

Police also arrested 40-year-old Varriel James Adams Jr., of Atlanta. He is  charged with conspiracy to possess marijuana with the intent to distribute and unlawful use of a communication device.

Both suspects are being held at Bartow County Jail.

No one was injured in the incident.
