GREEN OAK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -- A Livingston County woman who authorities say allowed her 9-year-old son to drive is facing charges.

Police responded Saturday afternoon to University Mobile Estates in Green Oak Township, about 35 miles northwest of Detroit, following a report of a young driver.

Authorities say they found that the 9-year-old was driving a 2002 Mercury Sable with a 5-year-old friend as a passenger. According to investigators, the 9-year-old told a witness that he was taking out garbage and his mother, 33-year-old Leah Jaglowski, knew what he was doing.

Jaglowski told authorities she allowed her son to drive but didn't know about the passenger.

She's charged with allowing an unlicensed minor to drive and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
