Church uses craft beer to lure new church members

Posted: Updated:

FORT WORTH, Texas -- What would Jesus... brew? A Texas church just might have the answer to dwindling congregations.

NPR.org reports that a pub in Fort Worth is home to the Church-in-a-Pub, where members of the Calvary Lutheran Church meet for services and grab a pint at the same time.

Pastor Philip Heinze says he has no problem using beer to help attract more people to his missionary work and those who have been attending say they find it more comfortable and less judgmental.

However, some Sunday patrons of the pub are caught off guard by the church service in their local pub.
