Prosecutors are seeking more information from police before deciding whether to charge a man who fatally shot a woman on the porch of a Dearborn Heights home.

19-year-old Renisha McBride of Detroit was killed by a shotgun blast in Dearborn Heights early Saturday.  (Play the video to see Andrea Isom's report.)

Her family says she likely approached the home to seek help after getting into a car accident.

Police say they've identified the person who shot her and requested a warrant in the case. The Wayne County prosecutor's office says it sent the request back to police Wednesday for additional investigation before making a charging decision.

McBride's aunt Bernita Spinks is acting as family spokeswoman. She says the family wants justice. A vigil was held Wednesday at the home.

"This man just came to the door, by somebody just  knocking? She didn't break in his house; she didn't break a window. What, you seen somebody on your porch and you just start shooting? And then you say it was accidental? That wasn't accidental; that wasn't accidental, no," says Spinks.

Dearborn Heights police believe Renisha McBride, 19, was shot in self-defense as the shooter believed she was an intruder. Her family was initially told by police that her body was "dumped" and discovered near Warren Avenue and Outer Drive, but now police are saying she died on the man's front porch.

Her family is calling this a "senseless death." They believe she went to the home, knocking, looking for help. They don't know why or what happened from the time she left home until she ended up in Dearborn Heights.

Neighbors tell us they asked police what was going on when they saw patrol cars, and they tell us what officers told them. "He say, somebody tried to get in his house, or seems like force ... and he got scared and shot the person," an unidentified neighbor tells us.

Family tells Fox 2's Andrea Isom that's a lie, and that no one could have been scared of McBride.
