'Tribute to Our Troops' celebrates 10 years

For the 10th year in a row, FOX 2 is proud to present a 'Tribute To Our Troops.'

The goal of our program is to salute service members from Michigan. We profile veterans of several wars and show you sacrifices made in order to protect our freedoms.

Highlights from this year's program include:

-- In 2004, we met the mother of the only woman from Michigan killed in conflict in Iraq. Ten years later, we return to her home to reflect on the decade spent without her daughter.

-- You'll also hear from a Vietnam veteran who survived the war only to rely on those same survival skills when his son lost his battle to cancer.

-- We profile companies looking to hire veterans because of their unique skills set.

This year's program also salutes the heroes who walk among us. You never know what the person next to you at the post office has lived through. Veterans don't always dress in uniform. Sometimes they're the people you'd least likely suspect.

As another way to honor our troops who have served or are currently serving, we've created a 'Tribute to the Troops" photo gallery.  Send in your photos.  Be sure to include the name and a little information about the person you're honoring.  Thank You.
