Teacher takes innovative approach to get classroom supplies

ATLANTA -

At a time when cutbacks are plaguing school districts across the country, one local teacher is doing more with less.

Price Middle School teacher Ronald Price was recognized Thursday for his innovative lesson plans and given a nice financial boost.

Miller's class has received numerous items through DonorsChoose, a non-profit group that connects donors with public school teachers who need classroom supplies.

Infusing creativity in the classroom is nothing new to Miller, whether it's reciting rhymes or swiping through lessons on the latest in technology.

"The kids are really engaged with the technology, Miller said. "They really love it and DonorsChoose helped make that happen."

Miller's class has received iPads, flash drives and other materials for a recycling project and for an outdoor classroom.

"The kids can lean hands-on and not constantly look in a text book because all the answers don't necessarily connect to them when they look in the book," said Miller.

In his eight years at Price Middle School, Miller has been an inspiration to his students and an example to other teachers that anything is possible when you put your mind to it.
