A Tampa woman, accused of punching her year-old son so hard that he died, turned herself into police Friday afternoon.
It was back on October 1 when officers responded to a home on North Jackson Court after a call about a baby who was not breathing. Paramedics rushed the baby to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead.
Detectives say, later that week, Quanyisha S. Thompson admitted that she had punched her son in the stomach four days prior to his death. After an autopsy confirmed that the toddler died from blunt force trauma to the abdomen, a warrant was issued for Thompson, 24.
Friday morning, police asked for the public's help finding Thompson. But they issued an update later saying that she had turned herself in.
She faces murder and aggravated child abuse charges.
