Some strange things have been happening outside an Apopka home. The family living there reported their fences have been bent, their gates left open, and garbage strewn everywhere. Since Tuesday, Melynda Whitt has been waking up to the same scene.
With the evidence mounting, the Whitts suspected a bear, or "something big," so they wanted to catch the culprit.
"I wanted to catch him on video. I wanted to see for myself what it was for sure," Whitt said.
So, they dragged a garbage can out front to use as bait, then set up a webcam in the window and waited.
"I waited for my dogs to bark and then once they started barking I woke my husband up and I said he's here, he's here, let's go!" Whitt told Fox 35.
Whitt recorded about 30 minutes of video of a giant black bear making mincemeat of their garbage.
"He walked back there and we went to the laundry room immediately, and he was just lying there eating the garbage."
Watch the video to see the brazen bear taking his time and enjoy a snack before sauntering through the gate. The Whitts plan to contact Fish and Wildlife to see if the bear can be moved.
