Glendale couple makes 100+ mile roundtrip for U.S. flag

A valley couple traveled a long distance to show their support for wounded warriors on Veteran's Day.

This was part of a fundraising drive for the Wounded Warriors Project.  Fulton Homes was matching the donations of people who came to its development in San Tan Valley.

The Glendale couple you're about to meet didn't think twice about making the long round trip drive.

Instead of giving $10 for a flag, they decided to donate $300.

"We have charities we donate to and Wounded Warriors is one of ours," said Dan Kuper.

After hearing an ad for the fundraiser on the radio, they decided to make the more than 100 mile round trip drive from their home to Fulton Homes' Ironwood Crossing subdivision.

"I said, hey, what a great opportunity. It is an hour and ten minute drive, but it's okay," said Dan.

He spent 22 years as a pilot in the Navy. His late father was a World War II vet and he still has the flag given to his family after his father's death.

His wife Susan comes from a Navy family too.

"There is no place like the United States and it is because of those soldiers coming back injured and everything that we are able to live the way we live right now," she said.

"I want to thank the veterans out there 'cause most of them had a tougher life than I did," said Dan.

According to Fulton Homes, the Kuper's $300 donation was one of the largest.
