PHOENIX -

Most of us are a little nervous cooking Thanksgiving dinner for friends and family, but a valley couple is expecting 1,000 people for the meal with your help.

Diedra and her daughter Kierstyn are collecting cans of food, but the shelves are still bare.

"We are looking for donations, can food, turkeys, cash donations, anything to help out our goal of feeding a thousand people," said Diedra Shepard.

Yes, a thousand people.  That's what the sign says on the side of their Sunnyslope house.

"We lived here before.. we know there are a lot of people down on their luck and really want to help them out," she said.

The idea is to set up a big tent on the property and fill it with enough tables and chairs for 1,000 people.

Diedra is not doing this by herself.  He fiancee, Scott Shire, is helping.  He know what it is like to be down and out.

"I came from the same area and I am struggling my way up through the ranks," he said.

They don't want anyone to be lonely on Thanksgiving.   Everyone is invited.

If you would like to help the couple serve up dinner for a lot of needy people, send an  e-mail to scott@ctbwindowsllc.com.
