DETROIT (AP) -- A former medical examiner sparred with a prosecutor Thursday over a wound on the hand of a woman who was fatally shot on a Detroit-area porch, telling jurors it seems to fit the defense's claim that Renisha McBride was pounding on the homeowner's doors before she was killed.Dr. Werner Spitz, a forensic pathologist, said photos of McBride's body show a "small superficial laceration" on her left hand. No charges have been filed after authorities said Renisha, of Detroit, was killed by a shotgun blast to the face early last Saturday in Dearborn Heights. An unnamed homeowner told investigators that he thought someone was trying to break into his home and accidentally discharged the gun, according to police.

McBride's family said she likely approached the home to seek help after getting into a car accident nearby. Police recently released a timeline that supports the family's theory:

12:57 a.m. -- First 911 call. The call said a female driver was speeding and crashed into a parked vehicle and left the scene.

1:23 a.m. -- Second 911 call. A different caller said the woman was back and appeared to be drunk.

1:37 a.m. -- A police cruiser was dispatched to the scene.

1:40 a.m. -- Cruiser arrives at the scene, but the driver was not there.

1:52 a.m. -- An EMS unit arrives at the scene, but saw no injured person.

2:52 a.m. -- Police cleared the scene, processed the vehicle and impounded it.

Police say Renisha was shot and killed after 4 a.m. It is unclear where she was for several hours between the accident and her death.

Dearborn Heights Police sent a warrant request to the Wayne County Prosecutor who sent it back asking for more information before making a decision on charges.
