Family prepares to say goodbye to man killed while selling iPhone

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. -

A family is preparing to bury a Clayton County man killed while trying to sell his iPhone.

Jevon Freeman was shot to death in Riverdale last week during a botched robbery. Police said that Freeman was trying to sell an iPhone 5 that he had advertised on Craigslist to the suspects.

Freeman, 25, was a father of two. His fiancé, Tynia Waker, said she met him on her first day in college. Since then he'd started his own barbershop. Waker said they planned on getting married soon.

"He was my rock. He was my support system," Waker said.

Clayton County police have arrested two teenagers.  Terrance Dent, 18, has been charged with Freeman's murder, while 17-year-old Latrel Irving is charged with receiving the murder weapon.

Freeman's parents, who are both pastors, said they are praying for the families of the suspects.

"I know that they are in pain to know that their son took somebody's life," JaMartha Freeman, Jevon's mother.

Now that Jevon is gone, loved ones say they'll try to raise his sons to be like their dad.

"Where they have a close relationship with God so that they can live their fathers dream, finish off his story," said Waker.

The funeral for Jevon Freeman will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Hand of the Lord International Church in Decatur. A fund has been set up at Bank of America under Martha Taylor's name to help cover funeral expenses.
