Posted: Updated:

Orange County Sherriff's Office deputies responded to a disturbance on Alafaya Trail and E. Colonial Dr. about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night. Deputies say a man was shot after he attempted to stop another man from beating a woman. The man and the victim began a physical altercation when a third man shot the victim. At least two other men began to beat the victim while he was on the ground.

One suspect fled in a blue Tahoe while the other fled, with the female in a Honda Element. Suspect Picart Rivas was found on Selma St. and suspect Miguel Rivera was found on Hiawassee Rd.

OCSO detectives interviewed the suspects and determined these men were the ones who beat the victim. They were charged with Aggravated Battery. Both suspects were taken to the Orange County Jail.

The female was also located unharmed in Osceola County. Detectives are still searching for the shooter.

The victim is expected to survive.
