Burned Cat Will Have Loving Home

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

He was set on fire and almost killed, but today he's thriving and has a home. Campbell the cat was set on fire on November 10, and he's been recovering at the PSPCA. He will go home with firefighter Stephen Paslawski once he finishes healing from his severe burns.

Lieutenant Paslawski is a 14 year veteran firefighter. After he met the cat, he was one of the first to contact the shelter about adopting Campbell.

"Our first meeting was amazing," Paslawski recalled. "After a few minutes of petting him in the cage, he put his paws up on me and climbed onto my shoulder as if to say, I choose you. I knew right then it was meant to be. He'll have a loving home for the rest of his life."

Paslawski currently works at Engine 45 in the Strawbery Mansion part of the city. He says that this cat will be a perfect addition to his family. Paslawski currently owns another cat named Tink.

The two suspects in the case, Tyrique Hall and Jose Sanchez, were charged with Criminal Conspiracy, Possession of an Instrument of Crime, and Cruelty to Animals. They could each face up to ten years in jail.
