(FOX 11/CNS) - Homicide detectives and grieving family members are looking for help in solving the unexplained murder of a 21-year-old school custodian, fatally shot while sitting in his car at a traffic light last Monday.
Jarret Crump and his friend were stopped at about 5:40 p.m. Monday at the signal at Century Boulevard and Vermont Avenue, where they were attacked by an unknown gunman, according to a department statement.
The shooting was two blocks from where Crump had lived with his grandmother, according to his mother, Dara Davis. She said the gunman got out of a dark-colored SUV, ran around to the driver's side of the vehicle and shot her son.
Crump's female passenger suffered injuries that were not considered life threatening, according to Los Angeles police detective Rick Gordon of the South Bureau Criminal Gang Unit.
Police were seeking the shooter and a second suspect in connection with the shooting, Gordon said.
