NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A Chicago teen accused of driving a stolen car to west suburban Naperville to commit two armed robberies is being held on a $150,000 bond.

Marquies E. James, 17, was charged with two counts of armed robbery and one count of possessing a stolen motor vehicle, a Monday statement from Naperville police said.

James stole a vehicle in Chicago, then drove to Naperville sometime Saturday, the DuPage County State's Attorney's office said in a statement.

About 10:50 a.m. Sunday, James saw a man working on a tablet in a garage in the 200 block of Briarheath Lane and tried to take the device from him, according to police and prosecutors.

The man struggled with James, who pulled a handgun, took the tablet and drove away, prosecutors claim.

Police claim James tried to rob another person at 11:09 a.m. in the 400 block of Apple River Drive, but was not able to take anything.

Authorities later located a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder, suspected of being connected to the robberies, in the 2400 block of Worthing Drive, and arrested James after a brief foot chase, police said.

The SUV had previously been reported stolen from Chicago. Officers also recovered the gun -- a BB gun -- along with the tablet, police said.

James, of the 6700 block of South Campbell Avenue, was ordered held on $150,000 bond during a hearing Monday, authorities said. He will next appear in court Dec. 9 in Wheaton.
