Investigators respond to shooting at West Orange High School

Around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a shooting in front of West Orange High School located at 1625 Beulah Road in Winter Garden.

Ja'Roderick Smith, 15, was rushed to Orlando Regional Medical Center after he was shot in the abdomen and face following an altercation in front of the school with a fellow student.

Fox 35 has confirmed that police have arrested the accused shooter, J-Morian Eddie Patrick Bell, 17, around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday.

According to reports West Orange High School immediately went into lock down and more than 100 police were called to the scene. The school nurse and school staff provided first aid to Smith until emergency responders arrived.

When the lockdown was lifted, West Orange students were bused to Ocoee High School to be picked up by family.
