LAKE MARY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

A man is facing jail time in Seminole County after he allegedly took more than $800 from a Lake Mary bank, but not before handing over information to a teller confirming his identity and his home address.

In the surveillance video from the Wells Fargo bank on Lake Mary Boulevard, you can see 32-year-old Gabriel Mendez Brignoni trying to cash a check.  Seminole Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kim Cannaday said the teller talked to the suspect during the process.

"The teller asked the suspect if he was also interested in opening a bank account with them. He thought it was a great idea.  He provided them with ID, his driver's license and a Social Security card."

After making photocopies of the identification, the teller notice the check Brignoni was trying to access cash from a closed account.  In the video, you see Brignoni grab the more than $800 from the teller's hand and take off once she started asking questions.  Cannaday said the Sheriff's Office busted the man at his house.

"Obviously, he left his driver's license behind and his address. That made it extremely easy for us to track him down."

Brignoni made his first appearance in court and was told he will be in jail at least until his arraignment in January.  Cannaday said the case is a first for her.

"I've never seen anything like this here in the County.  You see it on some of the TV shows with other types of crimes, but I think this is the first time I've seen it occur in relation to a bank robbery."

Brignoni is charged with robbery, grand theft, and because he tussled with the teller, battery as well.
