ELBURN, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Fire heavily damaged the inside of a house late Thursday afternoon at 224 E. Nebraska St. in west suburban Elburn, the Beacon News is reporting.

No one was injured and the homeowner was not there at the time the fire broke out, fire officials said.

There were several workers working on the outside of the house, and two dogs that escaped injury, a spokesman for the Elburn and Countryside Fire District said.

The house is in one of Elburn's oldest neighborhoods, just across the railroad tracks from downtown.

Firefighters from Pingree Grove, Batavia and Sugar Grove also helped fight the fire.
