A skydiver in Polk County was injured over the weekend after a maneuver went wrong and he became tangled in his parachute.
Victor Bryie is in serious but stable condition at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
The accident happened Sunday just after 3 p.m.
According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Bryie and 27-year-old Shaun Phillips jumped from the plane at 14,000 feet.
At 9,000 feet, Bryie came up under Phillips with his chute open, and Phillips' ankle became tangled in Bryie's line.
Bryie tried to cut away the tangled lines and open his reserve chute, but neither worked. He continued to fall tangled up in a partially-open parachute, the sheriff's office said.
Phillips' parachute was fully open. The two men landed in the same area near Highway 60 and Old Bartow Road.
Phillips went to the hospital, but was not admitted, the sheriff;s office said.
