CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police are searching for a missing 68-year-old Albany Park woman last seen Monday on the North Side.

Alda Velasquez was last seen in the 3800 block of North Janssen Avenue and is displaying the early signs of Alzheimer's disease, according to a missing person alert from Area North detectives.

Velasquez, who lives in the 4400 block of West Ainslie Street, may be trying to get to a senior center near North Ashland and West Chicago avenues, police said. She speaks Spanish, but is losing her fluency in English and is not proficient with directions.

Police describe Velasquez as a 4-foot-8, 96-pound Hispanic woman with white hair, brown eyes and a medium to light complexion. She was last seen wearing a jacket but does not have gloves, a scarf or a hat.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts should contact detectives at (312) 744-8266.
