Easy Holiday Crostini

Crostini's are wonderful easy, colorful and a fabulous, so keep it simple to get your holiday snack on and feed a houseful!


The Crostini 411: a baguette is sliced, brushed with olive oil (and garlic if you wish) then lightly toasted in the oven or on the grill. When the bread is lightly toasted, top with a mixture of your choice there are a many variations you can try (such as different cheeses, breads and seasonings). You'll find oodles of ideas below.

Step One
Pick a couple of different baguette flavors; sour dough, multigrain, country French etc.  You can certainly use sliced sandwich style breads but you may want to use a round cutter or cut into triangles to achieve a bite size snack.  Lightly toss sliced breads in a little olive oil and season with sea salt, black pepper and chopped herbs if desired. Toast at 350 for around 8 minutes until toasted but still a little soft to touch in center, remove from baking tray.

Step Two
Pick a few bruschetta style toppings
 -Pesto with a sprinkle of parmesan
 -White bean and red pepper or traditional hummus perhaps with a sprinkle of tabbouleh
 -Roasted pear slices with brie cheese and a drizzle of honey
- Fresh sage, buffalo mozzarella and a thin slice of prosciutto with a drizzle of olive oil or brown butter
 -Goat cheese smear with fig jam
- Pate of your choice with a smear of whole grain or Dijon mustard
 -Traditional tomato bruschetta with garlic and basil.
 -Chopped olive salad
 -Goat cheese with wild mushroom salad
 -Gorgonzola mixed with a little cream cheese or mascarpone, raisins and arugula
 -Grilled vegetables with sun dried tomato goat cheese smear
 -Tuna with lemon, capers and spicy mayo
 -Ricotta, orange & chocolate 
 -Fresh Mozzarella with chopped tomato salad
 
Step Three

Arrange your chosen variety on festive platters, garnish with fresh herbs and ENJOY a hassle free snappy appetizer spread!!!
