LAWRENCE TWP., N.J. -

A crash involving a car and a tractor-trailer in Mercer County killed two people and left another one in the hospital, police say.

The crash occurred just before 1:30 a.m. Thursday on the U.S. Route 1 ramp onto Interstate 295 North in Lawrence Township.

The right shoulder and entrance ramps were closed in that area until about 6:57 a.m.

FOX 29's Kacie McDonnell has a look at traffic, and Steve Keeley is reporting live from the scene this morning.

WATCH LIVE: "Good Day Philadelphia," 4:25-10 A.M.

FOX 29's Steve Keeley says that the tractor trailer was stopped on the side of the road as the driver caught some sleep, a common practice among truck drivers driving long hours. The car with passengers rear-ended this tractor trailer.

Police say that the crash was so bad that they, at first, couldn't even identify what kind of car it was.
