CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Joanie, the rescue dog who bolted from her new foster mother's home on Saturday, Dec. 7, has been found safe after missing for almost three weeks, according to a Facebook post on the "Help Find Joan," page.

According to the Facebook page set up to help find her she was found in a yard in Wheaton.

Four year old Joanie went missing during one of the coldest periods of the year thus far. She is from Beirut, Lebanon. She was rescued last month by long time Magnificent Mutts Rescue volunteer Karen Clarke.

"Joanie came from an animal shelter in Beirut and this particular shelter is about triple its capacity. The problem in Beirut is that there aren't nearly enough foster homes," said Clarke.

There were several reports of Joanie sightings on Magnificent Mutts Rescue's Facebook page during the time she was missing.

The Facebook post says Joanie is in good shape and will be taken to the vet to be cleaned and checked out.

She will be returned into foster care after, the post said.
