Wintry Mix Falls In Some Areas After Light Morning Snow

PHILADELPHIA -

Our fast-moving Tuesday Clipper has produced minimal snow in Philadelphia on up to an inch and a half in some suburbs.

At noon, a posted Winter Weather Advisory remained in effect until 4 p.m. for areas from Lancaster County through Philadelphia to the coast and then north.

Some schools announced two-hour delays Tuesday morning and there were even a handful of closures as a result of the snow's timing.

The National Weather Service says snow accumulations from an inch to four inches can be expected in parts of Pennsylvania, with the highest amounts in the Pocono mountains.

Speed restrictions have been posted for several highways and bridges in New Jersey, and NJ Transit trains and buses are cross-honoring tickets.

CHECK: Latest Traffic Conditions

At Philadelphia International Airport, the snow total reported to the NWS was about 0.1 inch at 7 a.m. By noon, Coatesville in Chester County and Albrightsville in Carbon County had both recorded 1.5-inch accumulations.

A variety of precipitation is expected through early afternoon, all of it on the light side, FOX 29's Sue Serio says. There could be some more snow far north and west with a wintry mix in the metro area. To the south, it's just rain.

Our FOX Futurecast is showing a dry evening rush for Philly. There will be another round of light precipitation overnight, mainly to the south and east of the city. That looks like mostly rain, with a little bit of snow mixed in. But it's only around for a few hours while most are sleeping.

Overnight, temperatures will be cold in the 20s, so there could be some slick spots Wednesday morning.

Then, we can look forward to a warm up by the weekend!

We're more seasonal by Thursday, and by Friday, last day of autumn, we're at 55 degrees. Winter arrives on Saturday with a high of 57. And we're at 60 degrees by Sunday.

Just when you get used to that, it chills out again by Monday.
